Switching Between Organizations

Manage more than one nonprofit? Move between them in a single click, no logging out.

Updated April 9, 2026

If you belong to more than one organization in NP Ledger — for example, you manage finances for two nonprofits, or you're a CPA working with multiple clients — you can switch between them without logging out.

  • You must be an active member of at least two organizations to see the organization picker
  • If you only belong to one organization, you're taken directly to your dashboard after login

Switching organizations

  1. Click your organization name in the top navigation bar, or go to the organization picker at any time.
  2. The picker shows all your organizations sorted by most recently accessed. Each card shows:
  3. Organization name and logo (or initial)
  4. Your role in that organization
  5. Subscription status (Active, Trial, Past Due)
  6. A "Demo" badge if the organization is a demo environment
  7. Click the organization you want to work in. You'll be taken to that organization's dashboard.

Setting a default organization

If you usually work in one organization and only occasionally switch, you can set a default. When a default is set, you'll see a quick-access button at the top of the picker.

  1. Open the organization picker.
  2. Click "Set as Default" on the organization card you use most.
  3. Next time you open the picker, your default appears as a shortcut at the top.

To remove a default, click "Set as Default" again on the same organization — it toggles off.

Tip: Setting a default doesn't skip the picker entirely. It just puts your most-used organization one click away at the top.

  • After switching, the dashboard, sidebar, and all data reflect the selected organization
  • Your default organization (if set) appears at the top of the picker with a quick-access button
  • The organization picker sorts by most recently accessed, so your active organizations float to the top
  • Entering data in the wrong organization — Always check the organization name in the top bar before recording transactions. If you've switched recently, make sure you're in the right one.
  • Not seeing the picker — The picker only appears if you belong to two or more organizations. If you've been removed from an organization, it won't show up.
